Our Schools

We are four schools working together to provide an outstanding education in our academies

At our school we believe that children learn best through rich experiences and by learning to take responsibility for their learning. To this end we enable a varied curriculum, with strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy, as well as regular trips; locally, nationally and even internationally. The school has been judged Good by Ofsted.

Our school ethos is quite simple... based upon the acronym of HAMBRIDGE, so that it is easy for all of the school community to remember.  It was rewritten in late 2004 by all of the school community and is still just as relevant today...

H-appiness, A-chievement, M-otivation, B-elief, R-espect, I-nclusion, D-iscipline, G-rowth, E-xcellence

In short, we expect our children to take every opportunity that is offered to them and to ‘Be the best that they Can Be’

Huish Episcopi Primary School

Huish Episcopi Primary School, judged Good by Ofsted, has 6 classes and caters for pupils from the age of 4 to 11.

It is situated in Langport at the heart of the Somerset Levels. The school is housed in a beautiful Victorian building, which occupies an elevated central position. The accommodation consists of 5 classrooms, a study suite, an arts and cookery room, hall, library area as well as meeting/group rooms and offices. We are fortunate enough to have a sizeable playground as well as an attractive school field. The Levels Children's Centre is situated on the adjoining site and through our partnership we aim to provide many benefits to the children and families we both serve.

Huish Episcopi Primary School is a school, which takes pride in being ‘involved’. We recognise that children learn in different ways and through a range of experiences and this is why we complement our formal curriculum with a full enrichment programme of visits, visitors, sporting, musical and creative experiences and a comprehensive programme of out of hours learning. Our mission statement is ‘Inspiring... Believing... Achieving’ and this encapsulates what we aim for in providing a rich educational experience for all of our pupils.

Middlezoy Primary and Othery Village School

Two small village primary schools in Middlezoy and Othery on the Somerset levels became a federation.

The two villages are 1.8 miles apart and each school has facilities that complements the other. As federated schools we have a single Governing Body and one Head Teacher across both sites, but we retain our individual identity, something that is very important to a village school. The federation has been very successful over the last five years and the children regularly mix for both academic and sporting activities. We have small classes and a high ratio of adults to children, which enables pupils of all abilities to learn to their potential.

In September 2014 the Federation entered a new phase in its development when the two schools were reorganised in order for the KS2 pupils to be taught together. Both schools have an infants class (for children in Early Years and Years 1 & 2). Years 3 and 4 learn together at Othery, then move on to complete their primary education at Middlezoy, in Years 5 and 6. This allows the children to experience their learning in a class of pupils of a similar age.

Both schools were judged as Good by OFSTED in September 2014 and they praised innovative way we teach our pupils in order to maximize resources. The membership of the Levels Academy will only further enhance what we can provide.
